Thoughts: I absolutely loved this long-lasting, all-day mascara! As soon as I put it on, it did just what it promised: instantly lengthened, thickened, and curled my short, straight lashes. There was no messy residue or annoying clumps, so it gave my lashes great volume that still looked natural. Plus, no matter how many times I rubbed my eyes, I managed to stay completely flake- and smudge-free all day! The lightweight formula made me feel like I wasn’t wearing any mascara at all, and kept my upper and lower lashes from sticking together, a problem I’ve found with other products. But while I love how the mascara is water-resistant, it was especially difficult to remove, even with makeup remover.

In life there are haircuts, and there are haircuts. The former is just another encounter with a guy and some scissors. The latter happens when you meet somebody super-talented who, just by cutting your hair, ends up making your life 150% more awesome. Celebrity stylist Ric Pipino, who recently opened a posh little jewelbox of a salon in lower Manhattan, is the 150%-more-awesome type of hairstylist.
At Pipino Salon, which is located in a former toy store, no detail was overlooked. The interior? Black and white zig-zag lacquer floors, Fendi styling chairs, art by friends like Sante D’Orazio and Vincent Skeltis, and a waiting area stocked with macaroons, pastries, and fresh fruit. The playlist? Expertly curated by one of our favorite DJs, Harley Viera-Newton. The clientele? A mix of uptown girls getting prepped for society parties and downtown artists dropping in for a new look.
But Pipino doesn’t just know about the New York girls, of course. On a recent visit to the salon we asked him for a few tips that every teen can use, whether they’re on the beach or prepping for back-to-school.
