Unless I choose to go for a bold lip color, the only thing that ever really changes with my beauty routine, even for a night out, is my eye makeup. I tend to keep the majority of my makeup simple, but when it comes to my eyes, it’s always fun to try something new. That’s why I was so excited when Eva handed me a copy of Style Eyes by Taylor Chang-Babaian. This book gives readers the tips, tricks, and tools they need to create beautiful eyes and brows. Because I’m not the most creative person when it comes to crafting new eye-makeup looks for myself, this book was a great resource for creating cool new looks inspired by eye color, eye size and shape, age, trends, color palettes, and even art. Here’s one from the book–made just for teens–that you can try out this fall: Read the rest of this entry »

Gosh, Claire Danes looked pretty last night! I feel like she just gets more and more beautiful, from My So Called Life to Romeo & Juliet (I still love that movie…definitely a must-watch) she seems to just get glowier! Sure, tweezing one’s brow hairs isn’t exactly the most glamorous beauty ritual out there, but it just got a lot cooler, thanks to these super cute Tweezerman tools designed by fashion’s favorite punk queen Betsey Johnson! It’s hard to find another designer who injects as much free-spirited fun into her work as she does (I can’t help but smile every time she does her famous post-fashion show cartwheel down the runway), and as far as I’m concerned, it’s a gift to be able to sense her joyful spirit while I’m plucking away–it helps distract me from the pain! Thanks Betsey!! Buy it for $25 at Sephora.com or BetseyJohnson.com starting September 1st.

When it comes to being careful in the sun, I’m pretty good at practicing what I preach. I spend a lot of time on this blog going on and on about wearing sunscreen and staying protected, but that’s really only half of the battle. Recently I started feeling kind of guilty that after all that hoopla I’d never actually had a skin cancer screening. The truth is, I was kind of terrified of doing it! But for your sake, dear readers, I decided to go for it and share my experience so you won’t be freaked out!
